Part of a letter from Yehudi Menuhin, 3 August 1969:

“ Today I received a visit from the violin-maker Domenico Fantin and I fell in love with his instruments – so much so that I bought his latest one. It is still brand new, but it already has a distinctive and extremely attractive sound.

I am pleased that it remains possible to find instruments today that compare with the old ones. We can be confident that the noble tradition of Italian violin-making and playing is alive and well, as is – above all – the grand musical tradition of the past and present.”
